Guidelines for Assistance

Wishes and Rainbows

All applications will be given fair consideration according to income and expenditures, and urgency of situation. When eligibility is debatable, Officers will vote on it and majority will rule.

For non-emergency requests, assistance will be based on priority and availability of funds.

Although Wishes and Rainbows was created primarily for those suffering from Arnold Chiari Malformation and/or Syringomyelia, other worthy causes will not be denied consideration if funding is available.

When applicable, monies will be sent directly to institutions where services are being requested. For example, should the request being made be for payment of doctor bills, the money will be sent directly to the doctor. The same will apply for hospitals, utility companies, mortgage companies, etc. If monies are being requested for lodging while at an out-of-state or distant facility requiring overnight or extended stays, Wishes and Rainbows may make arrangements, and money will be sent directly to facility.

When applicable and / or available, if requests are made for meals while at an out-of-state or distant facility, food coupons to particular eating establishments may be furnished, depending on convenience of such establishments.

When applicable, gift cards or travelers checks will be furnished for safety and convenience. The same will apply for gas cards and grocery cards.

Phone cards may also be available to stay in contact with immediate family members, or for being able to stay in contact with doctors when long distance services are not available but required. Please ask if there are any available if you need one.

All applications require a verification letter of situation from a religious leader, social worker or DHS, doctor, or other dependable institution. Depending on situation, applications may be submitted every six (6) months.

Applications will be accepted and considered without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, national origin or ancestry.
